I recently finished reading the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and LOVED it! I was sad when I finished the last book, realizing that there was no more, BUT I was glad that it was left open-ended so another series could come later. I really hope that happens. I really enjoyed all of the greek mythology, which I had mostly forgotten. I thought it was new and original and creatively written. It kept my attention the whole time. I could hardly put them down. They are great books for anyone age 8 and up.
Right now I'm reading The Hunger Games and can hardly put that down. I'm almost done and can hardly wait to read the next book, Catching Fire. I find that this book has been mostly unpredictable. Usually I can figure out where the book is going and what will happen next, but not so with this book. It has some good twists and has kept me guessing. I highly recommend it!

I can't wait to read all of those. They've been on my list for awhile now. I'm in the middle of Brandon Sanderson's series Mistborn, which I've really enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteAdam, Ryan, Jeff, and I have all enjoyed the Percy Jackson books too. My boys can hardly wait for "The Lightning Thief" movie that is coming out on President's Day. It's so nice of them to give us something to look forward to in the middle of February! I couldn't put down The Hunger Games or Catching Fire either. Try her Gregor the Overlander series too. Ryan and I have been reading it. It's aimed at a younger audience--Ethan and Hannah will probably like it too. Happy New Year to you guys! Hope 2010 will be a great year for you. We love you and miss you!
ReplyDeleteI've only read the first Percy Jackson book, and right now I'm reading to my class. They love it. I am a BIG fan of The Hunger Games. Catching Fire was just as good, but it will leave you just as irritated at the end. Oops. Don't listen to me. Enjoy the book. It's one that I will for sure read again.
